I was born and raised in Shimizu Chawanzaka. These works are created by making climbing kilns and anagama kilns, which are rarely used today, and firing them in a kiln using firewood. This is the commitment to the traditional kiln built by the predecessor.
What is “Kyoto-ness”? Ask yourself. While learning the past of Kyoto ware and Kiyomizu ware, he establishes and expresses his own style. Sawamura Touya Koubou's "delicate and Kyoto-esque things" created from the commitment to tradition and the feeling of Kiyomizu, Kyoto are the current form of traditional culture.
Based on the atmosphere created by the "flame" unique to climbing kilns and anagama kilns, these one-of-a-kind pieces are delicately and gorgeously painted with thoughtful attention to detail. Sawamura Touya Koubou, which mainly produces tableware for Japanese cuisine, is based on the premise of using tableware.
