Born and raised in Kiyomizu Gojozaka. From an early age, he grew up watching his father, Living National Treasure Uichi Shimizu, pottery craftsmen, and potters, and proceeded to make pottery with the motif of the "turtle" that he was familiar with.
The artist says that he wants to create pottery that enriches the soul through encounters with the potter's wheel and the clay.
There is a conversation between the artist and the clay during the potter's wheel work that concentrates all nerves on the fingertips, and each piece of work that has the warmth of human skin is born. Isn't this the unique charm of pottery?
